ABOUT YONABARU
What kind of town is Yonabaru?
"Yonabaru Town - The sea side town which carries tradition and kindness, sun and nature into the future"
Both Udunyama and Uegaa are located in Yonabaru Town and are Uganju or "places of prayer".
Many people visit these places every year for "Agari Umaai", a spritural event dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom Era, to pray for the prosperity of the Kingdom and a rich harvest.
Yonabaru is the smallest town in mainland Okinawa.
However, "Yonabaru Ootsunahiki" is one of Okinawa’s famous Three Ootsunahiki along with Naha and Itoman.
Come pull the "tsuna" (a traditional giant rope tug-o-war) with us which is said to be the most gorgeous and strongest looking rope in Okinawa!
It’s a great experience! There’s also a "Tsunahiki Museum" in town, if the Yonabaru Ootsunahiki interests you.
